About Us

Dan started as a photographer and was inspired by his dad while Dan was still in grade school. With his dad’s inspiration and camera equipment, Dan’s love of photography grew into more than a hobby.

Dan enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1978. The Air Force recognized Dan’s unique talent and photographic ability and assigned him to Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada as a Nellis AFB photographer. In a very short time Dan distinguished himself as an extraordinary talent.

In 1979, the US Air Force Thunderbirds – the world’s leading military fighter jet demonstration team – selected Dan to serve the elite team as their official photographer. Airman Wilber became the youngest member of the team and official photographer for the legendary Thunderbirds. During his three years on the team, Dan traveled the world and produced the team’s publicity photos, both aerial and ground. It was there where he met and shot hundreds of photos of a litany of people from US Presidents, Ronald Regan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton to celebrities like Barbara Mandrell, Ricardo Montalban, and Dionne Warwick to name just a few.

Dan’s Thunderbirds photography is on display inside the Thunderbirds Museum at Nellis Air Force Base to this day. Dan and his wife Alison are regular attendees at Thunderbirds air shows and Thunderbirds reunions in Las Vegas where he continues to shoot photographs enjoyed by ‘Birds alumni from enlisted men and women to the highest-ranking pilots including general officers.
